About Me
My research examines the role of trans identity and gender variance in shaping family relationships, identity formation, migration, spirituality, and world-making for transgender Latinxs in southern California. I am currently working on my first book, Trans Power: Illegality, Identity Formation, and Communities of Care in Trans Immigrant Lives, which is under contract with Duke University Press.
I have published in Latino Studies, The Journal of LGBT Youth, the International Journal of Qualitative Studies in Education, the Association for Mexican American Educators Journal, Transgender Studies Quarterly and in the anthology: Queer and Trans Migrations: Dynamics of Illegalization, Detention and Deportation.
I am currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Gender and Sexuality Studies at the University of California, Riverside.
